The Delegation: EMPC studios and back lots are comparable to the biggest International studios and its amenities have exceeded our expectations.
In the context of EMPC relentless efforts to encourage international movie production companies to film their productions in Egypt and put EMPC on the international film making map, a delegation from the famous American film production company “ Lionsgate “ has recently visited EMPC. Lionsgate company is considered one of the biggest international production companies that has produced a number of Hollywood blockbusters like John Wick movies and The Hanger Games.
The delegation consisted of the American producers/Louise Rosner and
Chad Stahelski and the American director/Kevin Kavanaugh. Their visit is part
of their preparation plan for producing and shooting one of their movies in
Egypt in 2024.
This is done in collaboration with Egypt Film Commission (EFC) which is responsible for obtaining all kinds of permits required for filming foreign movies in Egypt. That’s in accordance with the ministerial decree that granted EMPC the right to issue shooting permits for foreign movies filmed in Egypt.
Since its inception, EFC has supervised the filming of a big number of
foreign movies representing the most famous cinemas worldwide such as the
American, German, Swiss, Norwegian and Colombian ones. EMPC has also launched
the English website www.egyptfilming.com to give a hint about the various services
offered by EMPC in this field.
Moreover, the delegation had a tour within EMPC premises to get to know its amenities and filming possibilities as they saw a number of districts within EMPC back lots, such as the London area, the popular area, Emad Al-Din and Garden City, and the Canto Market.
Then, they visited the Audiovisual Heritage Center, which preserves old movies for future generations and protect those precious movies from being damaged. They also went to the Dolby Atmos studio, which is considered the latest of its kind in the field of audio recording applications. The studio is certified by Dolby International.
At the end of the tour, the members of the delegation expressed their great admiration of EMPC state-of-the-art technical and artistic amenities, which exceeded all expectations, plus its studios and back lots that are comparable to those at the biggest international studios.
It is noteworthy to mention that the American delegation,
under the supervision of EFC, had a scouting tour at the most important
touristic and archaeological sites in Cairo to choose the movie’s filming locations,
including the Grand Egyptian Museum, the pyramids Plateau, and Khan El Khalili
district. They also visited the New Administrative Capital and had an outdoor
tour around the most important touristic and archaeological sites in Luxor and
Aswan.
