In preparation for shooting the French film “The Treasure of Khufu” in Egypt this year, which is being implemented by Misr International Films, a delegation from the French production company “Bonne Pioche Cinema” Yves Darondeau, consisting of: Director/Barbara Stephani, Producer/Francois Jean Pierre, Director of Photography/ Gufllaume Schiffman, and Assistant Director/ Joseph Paul Henry visited EMPC to inspect its technical and production amenities. The delegation saw EMPC studios and back lots, which are characterized by their great diversity of architectural styles and versatility. They are suitable for all types of filming especially after the great boom they had witnessed lately. The delegation was accompanied by the Egyptian Film Committee team at EMPC, headed by Ahmed Sami, the Committee General Director.

They toured a number of studios and the Audiovisual Center for Heritage Restoration, which preserves the documentary heritage owned by Egypt and protects it from being damaged. They also visited the Dolby Atmos Center, which is considered the most modern in the world in the fields of sound recording and mixing applications and is certified by Dolby International. Afterwards, the delegation headed to the back lots where they saw the sets’ decors and furnishings currently taking place in preparation for filming movies and drama series.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Egyptian Film Commission at EMPC is the only official body responsible for issuing permits for shooting foreign films in Egypt, in coordination with the concerned authorities and in accordance with the one-stop-shop system that allows international production companies to carry out their productions in Egypt from one place, without Any obstacles or administrative difficulties.

The commission also provides all the necessary logistical facilities and production services for the crews of international production companies filming their productions in Egypt, including finalizing customs procedures, obtaining travel visas, as well as aerial shooting permits, and providing vehicles and drones, based on the request of the production services companies, in addition to providing security escorts to the work team in coordination with the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

During the past two years, the commission has supervised the filming of more than 35 foreign feature films and documentaries, from various nationalities (American - Norwegian - British - Indian - German - Australian... etc.) in many archaeological sites and tourist attractions in Egypt.
